Culture Disruptor: The Clubhouse App

The Clubhouse App has disrupted social spaces by causing everyone to stop what they are doing and virtually run over to the Clubhouse. Paul Davison and Rohan Seth brought this app to everyone who has an iOS operating system in December 2020, although it’s intial release date was in April 2020. The app is accessible by invitation only and allows no messaging on the app. All members use voice only.
The awes of humanity include its ability to create in the midst of adversity. With the world attempting to keep on spinning, the event horizon of the pandemic set our global and social trajectory on a new path. The Clubhouse App is blazing the trail on this new path by allowing people to connect from (literally) every corner of the world and converge in a magical space of mentorship, therapy, education, and collaboration all with the single aim of networking. In a world where physical gatherings have suffered, it is now more important than ever for people to find ways to safely connect. We humans are social, relational beings and regurlarly connecting with people, albeit virtual is as vital to our total well being as water and a balanced diet.
To share the same digital space with billionaires, gurus, celebrities, and influencers makes clubhouse a grand equalizer. One evening Elon Musk dropped in for a conversation. Dame Dash spent some time chopping it up and even news commentator Van Jones, entertainer MC Hammer, actress and comedian Mo’Nique, and gospel artist Marvin Sapp stopped by. You never know who will pop in to say hi.
Although there’s been some concern with the app as it relates to privacy, it is certainly true that Clubhouse has disrupted our social media lives!
Great!
